Gorgeous cat alebrije wood carving by the Sosa family. This piece was expertly carved out of copal wood (which is sustainably sourced in Oaxaca) and painted with very fine detail at the Sosa workshop in Oaxaca where several family members participate in the making of alebrijes. From the sourcing of the perfect piece of wood, carving, fixing wood imperfections and knots, sanding and finally painting; there are many steps and procedures that go into making these colorful works of art.
